Can a dog or cat travel in the plane cabin with me?

Philippine Airlines In-Cabin Pet Policy

Philippine Airlines does not permit pets to travel in the cabin with the exception of medically certified service dogs and emotional support dogs.

Service dogs can fly on all routes. Emotional support dogs are the only animals recognized and may fly in the cabin only on routes to and from the United States.

Owners of emotional support dogs must provide documentation not more than one year old on letterhead from a mental health professional or medical doctor who is treating the passenger’s mental health-related disability stating that they are a licensed medical health professional or mental doctor, and that the passenger has an industry-recognized mental or emotional disability and needs the emotional support of psychiatric service animal as an accommodation for air travel and/or for activity at the passenger’s destination. This documentation must be provided a minimum of 48 hours ahead of departure.

Whether you are flying with a service or emotional support dog, the airline must be notified at least 48 hours in advance of departure.

Philippine Airlines Checked Baggage Pet Policy

If your pet is too large to fit under the seat, if it is an animal other than a dog or cat, or if it is a very long flight, as long as you are accompanying your pet, Philippine Airlines may transport your pet in the cargo section of the aircraft according to Philippine Airlines pet policy. This section of the cargo department has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin.

TIP: Be sure to tell the Captain of the aircraft that your pet is flying in the cargo hold so that they can be sure to keep the temperature at the proper level. Find more tips on airline pet travel in cargo.

Reservations

A minimum of 48 hours must be given for pets traveling as checked baggage. All animals must be accompanied by a passenger at least 12 years of age.

Forms Required

Philippines Airline agents will need to see valid vaccination certificates and exit and/or entry permits. Documentation for your pet’s destination country will also need to be verified.

What is the regulation size of carry-on luggage?

Your carry-on bag must have a max weight of 7 kilograms with dimensions of 56 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm for ATR flights and 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm for Airbus flights. And, by the way, these dimensions include wheels and handles of your bag. Your carry-on luggage must fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin.

What happens to my checked baggage when I change planes?

When you purchase a connecting flight, checked baggage is usually forwarded to your final destination, and will change planes when you do. The check-in agent will usually ask if you want your luggage checked through to your last stop, ask if they don’t to be sure. You’ll also receive boarding passes for both flights when you first check-in, so all you will need to do is find your gate at your connecting airport and your bags will automatically follow.

When you purchase a layover flight, you will need to claim your bags when you land at your layover destination. Then recheck them the next day when you continue your flight(s).

If you happen to purchase an itinerary where multiple carriers are involved, ask the check-in agent if your baggage will transfer. In some cases, if you purchased multiple tickets that are not all on the same carrier you may need to recheck your baggage. To be certain, call the airlines you are traveling on and double check.

Please note that size and weight limits apply for checked baggage.
